The Logo of Asbestos TEM Laboratories

The logo of Asbestos TEM Laboratories is a stylization of the crystal stucture of the amphibole mineral group. Amphibole is made of double chains of silica tetrahedrons bonded together by ions of magnesium and iron. Alternating rows of chains are stacked to form crystals.

The following diagrams were taken from the web site of the Department of Geology and Environmental Science, James Madison University. They are used here to illustrate the structure of amphibole, pending permission from Professor Lynn S. Fichter.
