Mission Statement The mission of Asbestos TEM Laboratories, Inc. (ATEM) is to provide complete customer satisfaction while delivering technically accurate information and maintaining superior quality in all of the analytical testing services that we offer. We accomplish this by assessing the exact needs of our clientele, by honestly communicating our capabilities in this area, and by meeting or beating our promised schedule of deliverables - all as a matter of course. The benefits our clients derive from our services include the support of regulatory compliance and the promotion of increased health, safety, and environmental protection through the awareness and education of analytical testing results. Past & Present ATEM was founded in 1989 by geologist Mark Bailey in response to the growing need for high quality asbestos analytical testing, especially in the methods employing the most sophisticated analytical techniques of TEM. Prior to creating ATEM, Mr. Bailey was Vice President of National Asbestos Laboratories in San Leandro, California, where he established the electron microscopy facility and oversaw the operation of all laboratory functions. Starting with one polarized light microscope, one transmission electron microscope and just two employees, ATEM has grown to be a company with more than 15 employees and a branch laboratory in Reno, Nevada. It is by the development of our employees that we differentiate ourselves from the competition. Employee development is achieved at ATEM through continuing education, the acquisition and maintenance of both individual and laboratory certifications and accreditations, and by providing a supportive and nurturing work environment for all employees. Every ATEM laboratory analyst is a college graduated scientist with a educational background in geology, chemistry, physics, biology or another related science. We are extremely proud of a staff that currently includes seven Master's degrees, two PhD's, and two California Registered Geologists. eClipSys Corporation eClipSys stands for Electronic Clipboard Systems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of ATEM. eClipSys was born in 1997 when Mark Bailey had the vision of a digital field data collection system that could mesh with his existing laboratory information management system (LIMS). This was a direct result of watching field technicians spend up to an hour filling out chain-of-custody forms by hand at the laboratory, not only duplicating information previously recorded but also potentially introducing transcription errors into the data. An earlier version of eClipSys ran on the Apple Newton platform, but since 2002 the program has been ported over and enhanced to run on the Tablet PC. eClipSys is now a fully computerized asbestos database management system that not only includes field sample collection and integration with laboratory testing results, but also electronically records the abatement tracking and air monitoring information required for a proactive asbestos management plan.
